Commanders DE Chase Young's trade odds

Chase Young might be an important part of the Washington Commanders' plans next season, but that hasn't stopped trade rumors from swirling almost from the moment those in power didn't trigger his fifth-year option. Paying both defensive ends the going rate is not the smart way to roster build considering the amount already committed to Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen, so it's something worth monitoring closely in the coming weeks.

Almost every team has been linked to the former Ohio State standout this off-season. Although according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, it would take a huge offer to tempt the Commanders into trading a player that came into the NFL with generational traits.

According to the latest odds from BetOnline.ag, the Detroit Lions are favorites to secure Young's services if Washington does decide to cut their losses and get valuable draft capital back in return. Dan Campbell's men are right on the cusp of something special and there's just no telling what his coaching methods would do for someone with such impressive physical attributes.

Others at the front of the market include the Seattle Seahawks, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Houston Texans, and New Orleans Saints. Whether any of these teams could stump up the compensation package needed given the injury risks involved is another matter.

Young has a huge point to prove next season. One that could shape his short and long-term NFL aspirations for good or bad.
