Commanders OC Eric Bieniemy putting things right
Eric Bieniemy's been a breath of fresh air since joining the Washington Commanders. It hasn't been perfect and there are still some kinks on offense to work out, but there is far more purpose and belief in the respected figure than those who came before with play-calling responsibilities.
Bieniemy's been around long enough to know that one swallow doesn't make a summer. The Commanders are a wounded animal after their loss against the Buffalo Bills, but the two-time Super Bowl champion is looking to put things right at the earliest opportunity based on his comments via Pro Football Talk.
"My job is to make sure we’re doing everything to help us to drag our ass across the finish line. Obviously, I ain’t do a great job — whether we threw the ball or whether we ran it. Obviously, we didn’t do enough. When it’s all said and done with, we’ve got a young quarterback. Still, our job is to make sure we’re continuing to grow. Now, there were some spurts, he did a hell of a job. Then there were some opportunities [where] we didn’t do such a great job. But that’s the thing, when you’re a team going through a season, you’re going to have your highs and you’re going to have your lows. This is when you find out who you are. This is when the resiliency has to pick up."Eric Bieniemy via Pro Football Talk
This is exactly the sort of coach Washington's offensive players need right now. Bieniemy's been around championship teams and knows exactly what it takes to win, although incorporating more balance into the offensive game plan in such an intimidating atmosphere would be a good place to start.
