Commanders News: Eric Bieniemy, Chase Young, Ron Rivera and Josh Allen

Commanders DE Chase Young's eagerness
Perhaps the biggest highlight during a monumental comeback success at the Denver Broncos last weekend was the return of Chase Young. The defensive end was an absolute wrecking ball flying off the edge, causing havoc at will and combining for three sacks alongside fellow pass-rusher Montez Sweat for good measure.
There was a clear eagerness from the coaching staff to take things easy with Young after he participated in only two contact practices following a severe stinger suffered in the preseason. But once the leash was off, one couldn't help but be impressed by the former No. 2 overall selection's contribution.
When talking about Young's performance, Ron Rivera stated they had to rein him in on occasions via the team's website. However, the head coach was thrilled to see the same qualities he displayed during his rookie campaign in 2020.
"He was so excited to get back out on the field. We had to really kind of try to temper him the best we could. A couple times he popped out there when it wasn't his time to rotate in. He did remind me…of the things from his rookie year. He just wants to play so badly, so it was so good to see him play the way he did."

Doing this for a consistent run of games is the next challenge for Young. If he can do this and avoid any further complications on the health front, then the Commanders need to pay up accordingly.
