Joe Whitt Jr. bringing the juice

Joe Whitt Jr. laid down a solid marker during his introductory presser. The Washington Commanders defensive coordinator was charismatic and delivered his message with supreme authority. It left fans feeling good about the future, although there is a lot of hard work ahead.

Whitt's going to be tough yet personable with his players. He won't be demanding anything from them that he isn't willing to put in himself. Hopefully, this will get everyone on the same page quickly when organized team activities begin.

Bryan Manning from USA Today Sports conceded that there was something different about Whitt's presser. The writer also acknowledged that Commanders' fans had been fooled by big words before.

"He is overdue for his chance at being a defensive coordinator, and if things go the way this staff thinks they will, [Joe] Whitt will be an NFL head coach. He has everything: leadership, the “it factor,” teaching, scheme, and relationships. Whitt is the real deal. Washington fans have seen coaches win the presser before. But something about [Dan] Quinn, Whitt, and this staff just feels different. So, are you ready to run through that wall yet?"

Adopting a wait-and-see approach would be the best course of action. The Commanders have a heavyweight coaching staff with different ideas. Molding them into a concise, aligned plan is going to be imperative.
