Commanders DE K.J. Henry's selflessness
College football changed forever once the new NIL ruling came into play. While it can be a force for evil and in some cases generational wealth, Washington Commanders edge rusher K.J. Henry put the stipulation to good use when it was needed most.
The fifth-round selection featured on the latest edition of Commanders Log, which only made fans love the player even more. Henry spent his time away from football raising awareness and funds through NIL deals to acquire a new kidney for his father - a lifelong Washington fan who couldn't wait to get his old Jeremiah Trotter jersey out of the closet when Ron Rivera traded up to secure the former Clemson stud at No. 137 overall.
When discussing the situation, Henry stated via USA Today Sports that it was a true community effort. One that made his family forever grateful.
"Just trying to help in any way I could off the field when it came to my dad when his kidneys were failing. And he was going to need a transplant, and really, luckily, with the backing of my community, my Clemson community, and the new rule change with NIL, those two things allowed me to help raise funds, raise awareness for him."

Henry's popularity is growing before he's even played competitively in Washington. Hopefully, he can impose himself throughout camp en route to some early involvement as a rookie.
