Commanders news: Dan Quinn, Josh Harris, Drake Maye and penny-pinching

Commanders HC Dan Quinn's gratitude
Dan Quinn is full of energy and looking to make his presence felt immediately as Washington Commanders head coach. This is a second opportunity for the highly respected figure in the driving seat. It's something he plans not to waste, but there is an enormous amount of hard work ahead in pursuit of getting this storied franchise off its knees and back among the contenders.
Quinn is eager to look forward with a newfound sense of positivity. Based on his recent comments via CBS Sports at the NFL Scouting Combine, he's also grateful for his time at the Dallas Cowboys. Something he believes was the catalyst behind renewed head coaching interest from around the league.
"Certainly, from Mike [McCarthy], I learned a lot, all the way from the philosophy of a team, of a staff of a program, of a locker room and all the important markers along the way. I thought the team's there, he threw a hell of a training camp like every step of you know how to do things and not missing it. He was super detailed in that process. And so having the three years with Mike was huge. Having the years with Jerry [Jones] and Stephen [Jones] and Will McClay. Like I'm a better coach for that time with them. And so those people, those players will always have a special spot in my heart because without them I wouldn't have had this opportunity here. And so I certainly appreciate it."

There is a sense of obvious gratitude, but Quinn should also know that any emotional attachment to the Cowboys must abruptly end. The Commanders have a bitter rivalry with their NFC East rivals. His job will be to knock them off their perch at the earliest possible opportunity.
