Adam Peters' reasoning

It was a painstakingly patient search to find the right head coach. There were plenty of twists and turns before eventually pulling the trigger with Dan Quinn. Many thought they'd make a bigger splash, others speculated about whether the Washington Commanders put all their eggs in one basket with Ben Johnson. But the deed has been done and none of that matters right now.

Adam Peters made no secret about his desire to secure a genuine leader of men for Washington's next head coach. The general manager believes he's found that with Quinn based on comments via FOX Sports. Something the front-office leader hopes can be the start of great things for the Commanders moving forward.

"The way his teams play, and the way the people who I respect most in this league revere him as a leader and a man, gave me conviction that he was the right person for the job. His ability to connect with not only his players but all layers of every organization he has been in is a rare trait and something that strongly resonated with us."

Quinn left a good enough impression to get the job. Winning over skeptical fans is the next big objective. Getting them onside will be of critical importance when one considers how toxic things became during Dan Snyder's two-decade reign of terror.

There is cautious optimism about the future. Peters and Quinn's actions this offseason and beyond will determine if this increases.
