Eric Bieniemy on Commanders relationships
Eric Bieniemy's arrival to the Washington Commanders only heightens the level of intrigue with so much at stake for most within the building next season. A better job title and full offensive control swayed the play-caller to leave the Kansas City Chiefs and obviously, the big pay increase didn't hurt, either.
It's vital Bieniemy's time with the Commanders goes well. Not only from the coach's personal perspective as he looks to attain a top job down the line but also for Ron Rivera with his job status hanging in the balance.
When asked about this particular dynamic during his press availability on Thursday, Bieniemy stated via Ben Standig of The Athletic via Twitter that he holds Rivera in the highest regard. The level of trust with more responsibility is also something that should reap rewards when the regular season arrives.
"He's an outstanding coach. I just appreciate him allowing me to have some input… a little flexibility as to help in adjusting schedules. … with some of the things I brought over from Kansas City and how we structured things. … It's just given me a little bit more responsibilities as far as being the assistant head coach."

In a weird way, this is a leap of faith from Bieniemy and Rivera. An unlikely alliance that can potentially be mutually beneficial in 2023 and beyond.
