Commanders News: Chase Young, Sam Howell, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Emmanuel Forbes

Commanders DE Chase Young's progress
Even though the Washington Commanders' defense displayed their customary dominance in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, they once again had to cope without the services of Chase Young. The edge rusher is taking considerable time to recover from a severe stinger suffered during the first preseason game, which could mean he's going to miss this weekend's clash at the Denver Broncos for good measure.
Ron Rivera didn't give an indication on whether Young would participate after being limited in practice on Wednesday. But the head coach revealed that it remains a gradual process based on his comments via Sports Illustrated.
"Again, he will just continue to do what the doctor's asking of him. The biggest thing is we're going to introduce him into full contact. It'll be an opportunity to go out and see where he is. So, we'll go from there."

The Commanders didn't need Young with others on the defensive front wreaking havoc in Week 1. However, when the opposition gets better, having the former No. 2 overall selection taking up attention will do wonders for their chances.
That might not be at Mile High Stadium. But if Young could make it back by the time Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills come to FedEx Field in Week 3, it would represent a major boost and give everyone within the locker room a significant lift.
