Commanders OT praises Eric Bieniemy

One of the biggest positives to emerge from early offseason workouts is having such a passionate, knowledgeable presence pulling everyone together on offense. Eric Bieniemy's influence has been nothing short of sensational so far, raising standards and increasing the tempo - something that was sorely needed after things became stagnant under Scott Turner.

The Washington Commanders invested a substantial amount in Bieniemy and provided the respected figure with everything needed to become a future NFL head coach. It's a responsibility he's taken incredibly seriously and is expecting the players to follow suit with high commitment on every play.

When asked about Bieniemy's presence and how it's benefitted the Commanders so far, veteran left tackle Charles Leno Jr. stated via Ben Standig of The Athletic that although it's early days. all signs point to improved fortunes during the 2023 campaign.

"(Bieniemy) wants us to be good. He wants us to be great. And it makes you hold you accountable for the coaches, but also for your teammates. That’s what it’s all about. We’re just in minicamp. But what I can say is if our offense puts together everything we need to and we play with the right energy, the right execution, we can put points on the board with the unit we have. That will help our defense tremendously. And with our defense, it keeps them off the field so they can play fresh and let our guys go hunting."

It probably won't be anything like the high-octane offense Bieniemy oversaw on the Kansas City Chiefs, but it doesn't need to be. The Commanders don't have Patrick Mahomes under center, but fans can relax safe in the knowledge they have a prolific offensive guru making the necessary adjustments to ensure this area of play doesn't become a weak link.
