Realistic outcome for Commanders in 2023

Things are hanging in the balance for head coach Ron Rivera and the Washington Commanders in 2023. They need to progress with Josh Harris' ownership group watching every move closely, but residing in the ultra-competitive NFC East is a tricky situation to overcome despite the strength at their disposal.

This is reflected by the widespread projections regarding Washington's fate during the upcoming campaign. Some analysts have Rivera's men making the postseason while others tip the Commanders for a top-five selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

When looking at various outcomes for Washington's season, Hunter Noll from NFL Spin Zone had the Commanders coming away with 8-10 wins and legitimate hope for the future with quarterback Sam Howell leading the charge. Whether this would be enough for Rivera to get an extended stay is another matter.

"Washington hovers around the 8-10 win mark and is fighting for a playoff spot at the end of the year. At the very least, they have hope with a young quarterback and pieces around him. Now they need to focus on filling in the holes on the roster. The Washington Commanders aren’t perfect, but fans have real hope for the first time in a long time."

There is definite talent across the board in Washington. Eric Bieniemy's arrival represents another positive that can make a supreme difference, but their hopes are pinned on Howell providing some much-needed stability and consistency at football's most pivotal position.
