Caleb Williams on Commanders link
It's no secret that Caleb Williams hails from the DC area. He is a lifelong Washington Commanders fan and just like the rest of us, took to social media last summer to express high delight about Dan Snyder finally selling the franchise to Josh Harris' ownership group.
Williams playing for his hometown team would be a dream come true for all involved. Unfortunately, it seems like the Commanders are one spot away from making this a reality. After the Carolina Panthers embarrassingly handed over the No. 1 pick in 2024 as part of their trade-up for Bryce Young, the Chicago Bears are in the driving seat.
The USC prospect and Heisman Trophy winner acknowledged how cool it would be to play for the Commanders based on comments via USA Today Sports. Williams also conceded the choice isn't up to him and despite rumors, will not be forcing his way to Washington or anywhere else.
"It’d be really cool because it’s so familiar. There’s a time and place for everything. My job and my hobby is being at the facility or on the field, or watching film. Or relaxing and prepping for the next day or game. I’m not pushing any agenda. At the end of the day, the Bears have the last say. Regardless of how I feel, I’m not pushing an agenda of, ‘Yeah, I want to go. Or no, I don’t want to go.’ I’m excited for whatever comes."

It seems for all the smart money as if the Bears will select Williams from atop the draft and trade Justin Fields. That's the sensible play. It would take a mammoth offer from the Commanders to change this narrative. Something general manager Adam Peters might not be willing to give up.
