Commanders news: Ben Johnson, Sam Cosmi, Adam Peters and rival tears

Commanders OL Sam Cosmi's desire
There weren't many positives to take from another season of abject failure for the Washington Commanders. Sam Cosmi's transition from right tackle to the interior was among them.
The former second-round pick was the Commanders' one shining light on their otherwise woeful protection. In 1,103 snaps of offense this season, Cosmi gave up just one sack and conceded four penalties. Unsurprisingly, this came with an exceptional 80.6 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.
This is a team game. One man cannot do it all - especially on the offensive line. But it's clear from Cosmi's recent comments via USA Today Sports that he's looking forward to the pending changes being implemented by the franchise.
"Change can be great, to be honest with you. I’m looking forward to it. I’m tired of losing. I’m tired of being average, now, below average. I want to win. At the end of the day, everybody does. So, whatever that takes, it’s a brutal business. But you’ve got to perform; I got to perform. Every time I go on that field, regardless of the situation, I have to perform. Everybody in this building has to perform. We all play a part."

Cosmi is one of the few building blocks guaranteed their spot under a new regime. He finally put things together after becoming an inconsistent presence on the edge. Hopefully, this is the start of great things heading into a contract year.
