Commanders GM Adam Peters' open plans

Not many around the league are expecting the Washington Commanders to sit on their hands this offseason. General manager Adam Peters is armed with a wealth of draft picks and $96 million in available salary-cap space according to Spotrac. There are some significant needs to fill, but hopes are high that the right additions can be made with an improved thought process behind the scenes.

Of course, what the Commanders do with the No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft has obvious ramifications attached. Most believe Washington is going to take one of the promising quarterback prospects. Some are speculating whether a trade-down for a king's ransom is something to consider. When speaking to Peer Schrager from the NFL Network and FOX Sports at the NFL Scouting Combine, Peters was keen to keep all options open.

"I think we could do anything to make our team better. Trade up, trade down. Had a lot of really good conversations with a lot of GMs this week, really productive. So we're going to look through every avenue to make our team better."

This adds yet another fascinating dynamic to what's already been an extremely eventful Commanders' offseason so far. If Peters can come out of the next few weeks positively, Washington should be well-placed to make significant strides in 2024 and beyond. If it goes the other way, there's just no telling how long it'll set the franchise back.
