Commanders news: Adam Peters, Jamin Davis, Caleb Williams and axe wielding

Analyst touts compensation for Caleb Williams
While nothing has been confirmed one way or another, all signs point to the Chicago Bears taking Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He's the almost consensus top prospect, although some have declared Jayden Daniels as the quarterback with more transferable skills.
Things will become clearer over the next few days. Chicago wants to resolve Justin Fields' future one way or another before free agency according to general manager Ryan Poles. If he wants to extract maximum value for the signal-caller, working out a trade before free agency represents the premium leverage point.
Speculation continues to rise about the Commanders potentially offering Chicago a king's ransom to move up one spot in pursuit of bringing Williams to his boyhood team. Adam Peters hasn't completely dismissed the notion despite the increasing momentum surrounding the USC prospect heading to the NFC North. Daniel Jeremiah from the NFL Network put together a hypothetical package he believes would be enough to tempt the Bears.
The benefits of bringing a game-changing presence such as Williams to the Commanders are there for all to see. He cares deeply about the franchise and hails from the DC area. It's something he no doubt dreamed of in his younger years. However, the Carolina Panthers' complete incompetence on and off the field has given Chicago the edge.
