Dan Quinn praises Kamren Curl

The Washington Commanders have some big decisions to make regarding their pending free agents. Some will be moved on with little fanfare attached. Those in power will also make a concerted effort to extend some established figures. But with a new regime coming into the fold, anything is possible.

Adam Peters confirmed that the Commanders would not be using the franchise tag on Kamren Curl or anyone else this offseason. Perhaps the $17 million price tag thanks to a larger-than-expected cap hike put the Commanders off. That said, the gifted safety is more than deserving of a pay increase after surging from a seventh-round pick into a key defensive piece.

Curl got a seal of approval from Dan Quinn during his media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine. The new head coach praised his performance levels over the last two seasons based on comments via The Athletic. In particular, his emergence into a legitimate enforcer on the backend.

"I’ve been super impressed by him over the last two years as a guy who has absolutely gone for it as a tackler, enforcer."

The former Arkansas star would be an extremely hot commodity on the free-agent market if the Commanders let things get that far. Hopefully, Peters and the new power structure will do right by the player after getting a bargain price for his outstanding production in recent years.
