Commanders inactives list for Week 4 game against Cardinals

The Washington Commanders are dealing with some slight injury issues in Week 4 at the Arizona Cardinals. This was always going to happen at some stage during the campaign. Whether the roster has enough quality strength in their backup options to cope is another matter.

Dan Quinn just needs to roll with the punches. Injuries to some mean opportunities for others and the head coach is keen to preach the importance of a collective effort. It's all hands on deck as the Commanders go in search of a second straight road win and third triumph overall.

Austin Ekeler is the biggest name missing from the contest at State Farm Stadium. The veteran running back was ruled out pretty early in the week after sustaining a concussion during their impressive Week 3 win at the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football. This is a blow to the offense, especially considering how well the free-agent signing has performed since joining the team.

The Commanders need to get creative at the kick returner position with Ekeler and Jamison Crowder on the shelf. Defensive end Clelin Ferrell is also out for the second-straight game, so the team's already thin pass rush needs to stand up and make their presence felt in pursuit of making life uncomfortable for star quarterback Kyler Murray.

It's not all bad news for the Commanders. Second-year cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Jr. is returning to the lineup after missing the last two games with a thumb injury. He'll be wearing something protective on the UCL issue that required surgery, so watching his progress and usage will be key over the early exchanges.

Besides that, it's all systems go. But as always, the Commanders had to leave some players out after calling up Andre Jones Jr. and Chris Rodriguez Jr. from the practice squad.
