Commanders final game by game predictions for the 2023 season
By Dean Jones
Commanders at Broncos - Week 2
Sam Howell's first road game as Washington Commanders starting quarterback is a tricky one. The Denver Broncos and its testing altitude at Mile High Stadium isn't the most hospitable environment imaginable, so it'll be interesting to see how the second-year signal-caller copes with such a challenge.
This might also be a good time to play the Broncos. Sean Payton's presence as head coach is a plus, but it could take a few weeks for everything to click into place - something the Commanders' defense has to exploit if conditioning is up to the required standard.
Prediction: Win (2-0)
Washington should see this as an opportunity to put the NFL on notice. It won't be easy and the result could easily go the other way, but the Commanders can feel confident in their chances as momentum builds.
Commanders vs. Bills - Week 3
The early gauntlet continues for the Commanders when the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen come to town in Week 3. This game should also be a sell-out given it's close to having that distinction already, which might provide the spark needed from an atmosphere standpoint to cause an upset.
Buffalo went relatively under the radar this offseason, but ignoring their chances would be foolish. This is a team with talent everywhere you look, although they'll be without the services of star pass-rusher Von Miller for this one - a major boost for the Commanders.
Prediction: Win (3-0)
This would be the best possible start for the Commanders. Going 3-0 might seem like a pipe dream to many, but anything is possible with fresh energy across the board and the quality at Ron Rivera's disposal.
