Commanders favored to add protection for Jayden Daniels in second round of NFL draft
The Washington Commanders got their quarterback of the future on Thursday night when they selected Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 pick in the opening round of the NFL Draft.
The draft will continue on Friday night with the second and third rounds and the Commanders plan to continue to add to their rookie class. They hold the No. 36 overall selection, meaning they'll have the fourth pick on Friday night, barring a trade.
Want to know what position the Commanders will select with that pick? Let's take a look at what the oddsmakers think.

FanDuel has offensive lineman as the betting favorite for the position of the Commanders' next draft pick. At -170 odds, there's an implied probability of 62.96% of the Commanders' drafting an offensive lineman next.
Considering the Commanders allowed 3.8 sacks per game in 2023, getting their brand-new quarterback some protection is likely a smart idea. One of the most likely options for the Commanders, if they do go that route, is Kingsley Suamataia, the offensive tackle from BYU. Other possibilities for that position include Jackson Powers-Johnson, Kiran Amegadjie, and Patrick Paul.
The other possibilities include cornerback (+370), defensive lineman (+550), and wide receiver (+600).
Commanders fans won't have to wait long for their third pick as Washington also holds the No. 40 overall pick, just four selections later. You can almost guarantee the Commanders go with an offensive lineman with one of those two picks and the other is going to be cornerback, defensive lineman, or wide receiver.
