After fighting for an important opening day victory, the Washington Commanders go in search of another morale-boosting success at the Denver Broncos.

It wasn't a complete bed of roses for the Washington Commanders in Week 1, but getting the win was more important than the performance. Opening regular season games always come with rust and poor execution - something that was evident across the league - but how Ron Rivera adjusts and develops a talented group of players will be pivotal to any further success moving forward.

Next up for the Commanders is a tricky-looking trip to take on the Denver Broncos. This will be Sean Payton's first competitive home game as head coach, so it promises to be an electrifying atmosphere at an arena that isn't exactly renowned for being the most hospitable.

Aside from the altitude at Mile High Stadium, the Broncos have a ton of talent on both sides of the football. They are also looking to put things right after their narrow loss at the Las Vegas Raiders to begin the Payton era.

It won't be easy, not by any stretch of the imagination. But the Commanders' defense displayed enough dominance against the Arizona Cardinals to suggest they have a chance in most games this season.

Commanders at Broncos prediction for Week 2

The Commanders will be brimming with confidence after a profitable offseason and their Week 1 victory. Whether that's enough to pick up a valuable victory on their travels remains to be seen.

It certainly wasn't as spectacular as many anticipated for Payton's offense at the Raiders. Russell Wilson had some nice moments, but the quarterback failed to come through in the clutch, and going up versus Washington's formidable defensive front represents a daunting proposition for the veteran signal-caller.

Sam Howell has to protect the football a lot better in this one. The former fifth-round selection cannot give away costly turnovers in a similar fashion to what we saw during an up-and-down performance in front of a sold-out audience at FedEx Field.

This all comes down to how the Commanders handle the atmosphere. If they can keep the Broncos fanbase quiet and put some early points on the board, they might have enough to attain a priceless win.

But if you're betting on it, do so with caution.
