Commanders draft Javion Cohen

As previously stated, fortifying the offensive line is a task those in power must accomplish this offseason. Sam Howell was the league's most-sacked quarterback for a reason. This unit wasn't fit for purpose despite the encouraging strides made by Sam Cosmi after his switch to the interior.

The Commanders have plenty of money to find veteran help. Adding someone like Amarius Mims earlier in the draft would also reap significant rewards. While much of the focus has been on starting assistance, Washington also needs to improve depth options in the event injury strikes.

Javion Cohen has the physical attributes to be a potential starter on the interior with further development. His athletic traits make him an asset in pass protection. He's always quick out of his stance and technically sound enough to capitalize when he gets his hands on opposing defensive lineman.

Cohen's lack of size could mean his future lies at one of the guard positions, which is fine. In this case, he needs to become more impactful on running plays. His frame suggests he can make strides in this area, even if it wasn't on full display during his time at Miami.

Despite the concerns, Cohen is good value with Washington's penultimate pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.
