Commanders draft Bralen Trice

  • Defensive End | Washington Huskies
  • No. 68 overall

I love this pick. I think Bralen Trice is the closest thing you will find to Maxx Crosby in this year’s draft. That's exactly what the Washington Commanders are looking for after trading Montez Sweat and Chase Young before the deadline.

He is a long, rangy pass rusher with a relentless motor. Trice can run around average tackles and can spin and stunt inside when necessary.

The edge presence chases down runners, and he shows up against top-tier opponents. It’s insane to guarantee he will be the next Crosby, but he has that potential.

I suspect his stock has fallen just a tiny bit because his final year with the Washington Huskies didn’t seem as dominant as his 2022 campaign. But if you watch closely, he is always involved.

I think he was asked to do a bit more in 2023. This may have taken away from his sack total. And I think that may also lead him to play with a bit of a chip on his shoulder once Trice gets to the next level.

Others to consider: Sedrick Van Pran, Ja’Lynn Polk, Kamren Kinchens. Though I must admit, this is largely based on the possibility of failing to re-sign Kam Curl. So I’m replacing one safety named Kam with another. I like symmetry.
