Bold predictions for every Commanders draft pick in 2023
By Dean Jones
Bold predictions for every Washington Commanders 2023 NFL Draft selection during their upcoming rookie seasons in a professional environment.
There isn't much time for the Washington Commanders' draft class to bask in the glory of their accomplishments. Rookie minicamp is on the immediate horizon, which is the first chance each will have to impose themselves before linking up with more established figures for OTAs and training camp.
It was a strange set of selections for Washington. Getting two defensive backs early raised eyebrows, with only one offensive player also coming under the microscope after the Commanders shelled out big bucks to bring Eric Bieniemy into the fold.
Ron Rivera has been keen not to deviate from his original plan despite ownership set to change hands before the season. This included giving Sam Howell a legitimate chance to become the team's long-term starting quarterback, passing on the likes of Will Levis and Hendon Hooker along the way.
It'll be interesting to see if Rivera's draft strategy pays off. With this in mind, we made one bold prediction for every Commanders' draft pick in 2023.
Round No. 7
Andre Jones Jr. - Commanders DE/OLB
- Core special teamer, late reps on the rotation
Nobody is expecting much out of Andre Jones Jr., although he does have some intriguing physical traits that could potentially be of use if he takes on coaching. The Washington Commanders are loaded with edge rushers capable of causing havoc, so making the team will be his main priority all things considered.
If Jones can do this, emerge as a core special teamer, and perhaps earn some reps on defensive rotation as the campaign progresses, this is the best possible outcome with the Louisiana product.
