Betting expert predicts high-scoring game for Commanders vs. Bears on Thursday Night Football

BetSided NFL betting expert Iain MacMillan is worried about the Washington defense on Thursday night, just not as much as Chicago's.

The Washington Commanders nearly pulled off an upset of the Eagles in Week 4. Meanwhile, the now 0-4 Chicago Bears were blowing a lead to the hapless Broncos to secure their 14th straight loss. Despite Chicago’s struggles, on Thursday Night Football BetSided NFL betting expert Iain MacMillan isn’t betting against them, just against their defense.

MacMillan picks every game of the NFL season in his weekly “Road to 272” and this week he likes the over on Thursday night between Washington and Chicago.

Betting expert for Commanders in Week 5

The Commanders might have a lot of recognizable names on their defense, especially with Jonathan Allen, Chase Young, and Montez Sweat on their defensive line, but that doesn’t mean they’re a good defense. They struggled against the Eagles last week and BetSided NFL betting expert Iain MacMillan doesn’t think they’re a very good group.

MacMillan wrote, “I'm going to take the OVER. Neither defense has been good this season and the Bears defense has been especially bad. The Commanders are giving up 5.6 yards per play this season while the Bears are giving up 6.1, the second worst in the NFL.”

The Bears are obviously the worse defense between the two, but Washington has one specific issue that will show up against Justin Fields and the Bears.

“The Commanders also have specifically had issues stopping the run, ranking 26th in opponent yards per carry giving up 4.5 yards per rush. That's good news for the Bears offense, who has been effective running the ball, ranking fifth in yards per carry, averaging 4.7 yards per rush.”

Take the over with MacMillan.
