After a tough overtime loss to the Eagles yesterday, the 2-2 Commanders get a massive reprieve this week as they host the 0-4 Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.

Chicago is coming off a disastrous collapse against the previously-winless Broncos, so Washington is in a great spot to kick an overmatched opponent while its down.

To no one's surprise, the Commanders are big favorites in the opening odds. Let's take a look at how sportsbooks think the matchup will go.

Bears vs. Commanders Week 5 Opening Odds

This is a perfect matchup for the Commanders. Chicago has not won since October 30th of last year and covered the spread just once in its last 12 games.

Washington's offense has performed well this season outside of a Week 3 matchup with Buffalo and the Bears have perhaps the NFL's worst defense. Eric Bienemy's offense should put up points, setting up for fun Thursday night for Commanders fans.

This is a large spread, so if you prefer to bet on the total you can do that, too. The under is 14-2 in Washington's last 16 home games as the defense typically rises to the occasion, so that could be an angle worth attacking as well.

Sam Howell and Brian Robinson are enjoying strong seasons, while Terry McLaurin had his best game of the year yesterday. Expectations should be high for the Commanders this week and oddsmakers expect Washington to roll.
