Bears vs. Commanders best anytime touchdown scorer picks

The Commanders offense put up points on the Eagles last week, so they have plenty of contenders to reach the end zone against the hapless Chicago Bears.

If the 0-4 Chicago Bears have proved anything this season, it’s that they cannot stop a nosebleed, let alone a competent offense. The Bears are one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL, so Thursday Night Football will be a great opportunity to back the Washington Commanders and their offensive stars to reach the end zone.

Last week, Sam Howell led the Commanders to a 34-31 loss to the Eagles, so who knows how many points he can put up against the worst team in the NFL. I have three anytime TD scorer bets for Thursday night.

This is definitely a longshot bet, but it’s founded in his target share. Turner has received 11 targets through four games and has caught seven. Four of those 11 targets have come in the red zone, which is tied with Jahan Dotson for the most red zone targets on the team. 

Jahan Dotson +210

Now here is Jahan Dotson. Dotson was a big red zone threat last season with seven touchdowns on the year. This season he has just one score despite the fact that he has seen four red zone targets and is second on the team with 25 targets, just one shy of Terry McLaurin. 

Roschon Johnson +350

The Commanders have not been strong against the run. They have allowed 4.5 yards per rush which is 26th in the NFL. Khalil Herbert has emerged as the No. 1 back in this Chciago offense with 18 carries last week to Johnson’s five, but this season, Johnson is tied with Herbert in red zone carries. Both have carried the ball exactly four times for exactly 11 yards, but Johnson has reached the end zone, and Herbert’s price is +225. So, here we get the same number of red zone opportunities for better odds.
