Commanders QB Sam Howell throws for 4,500 passing yards

Sam Howell has one of the biggest opportunities anywhere in the NFL this season. The quarterback is being provided with a chance to become the Washington Commanders' franchise player under a new ownership regime, which is something he's worked exceptionally hard to attain during a profitable preparation period.

Howell noticeably grew in stature the more comfortable he became within Eric Bieniemy's scheme. The Commanders' imposing defense sharpened him up exponentially, which should make things easier when the real action arrives against units with fewer playmakers at their disposal.

If Washington's offensive line gives Howell enough time to go through his progressions and make things happen under Bieniemy's outstanding counsel, then 4,500 passing yards could be within reach. Something that would give him another campaign under center at the very least.

Commanders make the NFC Championship game

These are bold predictions, right?

The NFC is not nearly as competitive as the AFC, which is something the Commanders could take advantage of. Their defense will keep them in games and if Eric Bieniemy makes the necessary improvements on the offensive side of things, Ron Rivera's men could end up being one of the genuine surprise packages in 2023.

Making the NFC Championship game is a stretch, for sure. But if everything clicks and certain position groups of concern step up, stranger things have happened.
