It's been refreshing to see the energy and collective pursuit of greatness throughout Washington Commanders training camp so far. Dan Quinn and his staff bring boundless enthusiasm and high standards to the table. Nobody is getting ahead of themselves, but everything seems to be going according to plan so far.

The Commanders are on a mission under the new regime. They've languished among the bottom-feeders for too long. The franchise was left to rot by the previous owner, who got just under $6 billion for his troubles after a record-breaking fine. It's not going to happen overnight, but fans cannot be anything other than optimistic about the way things are unfolding up to now.

Quinn's been suitably impressed by what he's seen. The commitment and collaborative approach have gone down a storm. There's a will within each player to put things right. As is always the case at this time of year, some are coming to the fore more than others.

With this in mind, here are seven Commanders players who are already displaying alpha qualities at the team's 2024 training camp.

Quan Martin - Commanders S

There was a lot to like about the way Quan Martin applied himself when finally allowed to shine as a rookie. The standout defensive back was one of the few shining lights from an otherwise abysmal campaign on defense under Jack Del Rio and Ron Rivera. Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt Jr.'s arrival only heightened anticipation about what the future might hold for the 2023 second-round pick.

Martin has the size and physical profile Quinn looks for in the secondary. He looks to be partnering with free-agent signing Jeremy Chinn as the Washington Commanders' starting safety tandem in their core base according to those in attendance at camp. The head coach also praised the Illinois product's capabilities - hinting he might be the best tackler on the team with a little extra polish.

This is tremendous news for Martin. If the same trend continues throughout the summer, the versatile chess piece will be an integral part of the Commanders' long-term plans for progression.
