Commanders could sign Prince Tega Wanogho (OT)

Prince Tega Wanogho has never started a game in the NFL. But he would be something that the Washington Commanders have had a very difficult time finding of late. He is a legitimate left tackle.

Right now, the only two reliable players Washington has who can play that position are aging veterans Charles Leno, Jr. and Cornelius Lucas. Ever since the Trent Williams fiasco, the Commanders have been shuffling through left tackle prospects looking for someone to step into the role.

Once again, they have a handful of youngsters in camp, but with the exception of Mason Brooks, none are standing out early. And I suspect the undrafted free agent, like so many before him, will be shifted inside to play more at guard.

During his years at Auburn, and in his brief exposure to the NFL, Wanogho has proven to be an effective pass blocker. His weakness has always been as a power presence in the running game. If you had to choose one skill for a backup left tackle, it would be pass blocking.

Wanogho is currently listed as Donovan Smith’s backup at left tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs. But rookie Wayna Morris will almost certainly overtake him and with Lucas Niang also around to provide depth, he may be a likely practice squad stash.
