Commanders could sign Austin Reiter (C)

Austin Reiter was a Washington Commanders draft pick back in 2015. He hung around for a few years until the organization took Chase Roullier, who proved to be a steal before injuries began taking their toll.

Now that Roullier is gone, maybe it’s time for Reiter to return.

Reiter has always been undervalued. But he was the starting center for the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning 2019 squad and he has been a solid presence for the past five years.

Creed Humphrey is now the center in Kansas City and is one of the best in the business. They also have several young players who can back him up, so this could be the end of Reiter’s time with the Chiefs.

Washington’s center position seems solid with Nick Gates penciled in as the starter, and rookie Ricky Stromberg representing the future. Veteran Tyler Larsen is still on hand as well. But as we have seen in the last two seasons, you can never have too much depth at center.

Larsen’s health is a major concern that needs monitoring and Gates has also endured rough luck on the injury front. If the Commanders were to bring in a player like Reiter, it would potentially free up the former Giant to play some guard if necessary. The entire line benefits.
