Commanders must be wary of Jonathan Jones

The New England Patriots traded to bring J.C. Jackson back to Gillette Stadium, but he's being outplayed by Jonathan Jones. A savvy cover cornerback thriving in his eighth year, he boasts the speed and aggression to handle the heavy diet of man-to-man coverage head coach Bill Belichick likes to call.

Belichick's trusted Jones with tough assignments in the past. Notably, when asking him to lock up All-Pro speedster Tyreek Hill.

Jones' best plays against Hill were collected by Taylor Kyles of Patriots on CLNS.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Jones gets the nod to clamp onto Washington Commanders' premier wideout Terry McLaurin. if so, quarterback Sam Howell will need to be wary about testing No. 31 too often.

Belichick is also a renowned defensive guru who knows better than most how to take away the opposition's biggest threat. That means it's up to Howell, Bieniemy, and a passing game missing Curtis Samuel to step up and impose their will right out of the gate.
