Commanders cannot overlook Deonte Banks

Emmanuel Forbes has already been sent to the bench, but another cornerback taken in the first round is living up to his draft billing. Deonte Banks is quietly developing into a quality corner the New York Giants can trust to stay matched up one-on-one on the outside.

While his specialty is in man coverage, Banks is also developing nuance in his zone game. He passed off wide receivers like a veteran against the Buffalo Bills, with Nick Falato of SB Nation's Big Blue View highlighting one notable example.

Sam Howell can't let himself be fooled by Banks. Especially since the Washington Commanders have the receivers - Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and even the underworked Jahan Dotson - capable of showing the rookie exactly how much he doesn't know.

The Commanders may be able to fool Banks. But they'll find it tougher to outsmart the signal-caller of the Giants' defense.
