Commanders could sign Bryce Huff

Trading Montez Sweat and Chase Young before the 2023 deadline almost guarantees that finding productive edge rushers will be another strong priority for the Washington Commanders this offseason. While taking a college prospect with one of their early selections comes with obvious long-term benefits, general manager Adam Peters also needs to find a proven veteran when the free-agent frenzy commences.

Again, this looks like a tremendous crop of free agents right now. The likes of Josh Allen and Brian Burns could be out of reach as their respective teams look set to implement the franchise tag to prevent them from testing the market. But someone like Bryce Huff wouldn't be a bad consolation prize by any stretch of the imagination.

Huff enjoyed a breakout campaign for the New York Jets in 2023. He was a constant menace flying off the edge en route to 10 sacks, 33 pressures, and 21 quarterback hits. This came at the perfect time for the former undrafted free agent out of Memphis.

This surge in production puts Huff in a strong bargaining position during contract negotiations. Considering the Jets have just $1.66 million in available space currently, they might not have enough to make the player a decent offer.

Fortunately, the Commanders have more than what it would take to land Huff. Acquiring an ascending edge rusher such as this would instantly upgrade a unit in desperate need of reinforcements.
