Commanders could hire Drew and Kevin Wilkins

  • Currently Interviewing

This is a bit of a flier. But since the Washington Commanders have already snatched several coaches from division rivals, perhaps they will want to complete the trifecta and get one or two recent New York Giants coaches.

Drew Wilkins - a University of Maryland graduate - coached the outside linebacker group for New York and his brother Kevin served as a defensive assistant for the Giants in 2023. Both were fired as part of the ugly power struggle that concluded the campaign between head coach Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

A few days later, Martindale left the Giants. He is now set to take over the defensive coordinator position at Michigan.

It has been expected around the league that the Wilkins brothers will join Martindale wherever he lands. He's replacing Jesse Minter after he jumped to the Los Angeles Chargers with Jim Harbaugh.

There’s a very good chance that both brothers would join Martindale in Ann Arbor should he get the job. But there’s always the chance that one or both may not want to leave the NFL and may want to begin establishing a name for themselves apart from the blitz-happy coach.

If that is the case, bringing someone from the Giants staff might not seem too far-fetched.
