Jayden Daniels was in complete control

It would have been easy for Jayden Daniels to get flustered with such a talented defense in front of him. Fortunately for the Washington Commanders, their new franchise quarterback is made of sterner stuff. He took what the defense gave him when things appeared complicated. He completed just 11 passes on the day, but they went for 238 yards.

Daniels knows how to be explosive. Whether it's on the ground or throwing the football, the signal-caller can do it all. He's a nightmare for opposing defenses to counteract. The most impressive thing above all else is how he seems to be in complete control at all times.

The Heisman Trophy winner didn't reach his lofty completion percentage numbers, but that was inconsequential. Daniels knows how to hurt defenses in different ways. The fact he's always so poised inspires others to match this mindset. It's been a long time since the Commanders had anybody like that under center.

Such was Washington's dominance on both sides of the football, Daniels got an early finish for good measure. When was the last time the Commanders had that luxury without getting blown out?

Commanders picked the right guy

There is no doubt about it. The Commanders struck gold when they took Jayden Daniels at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He's everything this storied franchise has lacked for a generation. It wasn't perfect in Week 5, but he got the job down with minimal fuss to secure more than 300 all-purpose yards once again.

The excitement surrounding the franchise thanks to Daniels is on another level. It hasn't been seen for years. It's happening much sooner than expected, but the Commanders seem like the real deal after racking up four straight triumphs. This is an incredible turn of events and their first-round quarterback is a big reason why.

Everyone believes they have a chance with Daniels. From the coaching staff to the players and the fanbase, he's provided genuine hope for the future. And make no mistake, this is just the start. He's going to get much better with additional experience.

This was another test Daniels passed with flying colors. The eyes of the league will be on Washington next weekend during their trip to the Baltimore Ravens, which is a mouth-watering clash between two elite quarterbacks.

It's only early, but that's exactly what Daniels appears.
