Commanders could sign Tee Higgins

  • Wide Receiver | Cincinnati Bengals

Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson should be a huge part of the Washington Commanders' offense under Kliff Kingsbury in 2024. Curtis Samuel is a free agent and might not return. The rest aren't up to the required standard based on what we've seen in recent years.

If the Commanders select a quarterback at No. 2 overall in the draft as expected, the need to acquire better weapons in the passing game becomes glaring. One only has to look at Bryce Young's first season with the Carolina Panthers to see what complications can emerge if the supporting cast is less-than-stellar.

Washington has the financial resources to go after one of the premier free-agent targets. Tee Higgins would be right at the top of this class if an extension cannot be worked out with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Higgins will never be WR1 in Cincinnati so long as Ja'Marr Chase is still around. Injuries and quarterback Joe Burrow going down meant his numbers dropped in 2023. However, this is someone with two 1,000-yard receiving seasons with his best years ahead of him.

Much like the situation with Brian Burns, the Bengals could franchise tag Higgins to give themselves some extra time to work out a new deal. If he does get the chance to speak with other teams, the Commanders should be among the first to pick up the phone.
