Jayden Daniels stacking days

Jayden Daniels' every move is being analyzed over the early stages of camp. That's not surprising when one considers the immense expectations on the quarterback's shoulders. However, he seems to be taking everything in his stride well up to now.

Daniels' footwork and accuracy were on full display once again on Day 2. The No. 2 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft spent most of practice working with the second string unit as veteran free-agent signing Marcus Mariota was deployed with the first team. Just how much longer this goes on is debatable given most perceive this quarterback battle to be a mere formality.

There were a couple of incompletions early on, but Daniels grew into the session to emerge with credit once again. A two-minute drill saw a series of efficient completions before distributing a touchdown pass to running back Jeremy McNichols. The former LSU star also found Mitchell Tinsley for an eye-catching score based on the musings of those watching on.

A blossoming early connection is not going unnoticed. The timing between Daniels and running back Brian Robinson Jr. looks like something that can help the Commanders greatly next season and beyond. This is only going to get better as camp progresses and when the time comes for live reps in the preseason.

Daniels has a natural aura and exceptional work ethic that cannot be ignored. His mechanics are outstanding, his footwork is on point, and the processing is good enough to have conviction in his decisions before delivering the football with accuracy and velocity in equal measure.

It's a process for Daniels and the pads haven't come on yet. Things will get more difficult and more intense in the weeks ahead. Washington's defense isn't making things easy, but he's coping well so far.

The Commanders and those who cover the team think something special could be brewing. It's hard to argue against that fact based on what we've seen from the Heisman Trophy winner since his high-profile arrival.
