The Washington Commanders got back to business for the start of another training camp week. There were plenty of positives to take from their preseason opener at the New York Jets. Building on this over the next three weeks before they kick off their 2024 campaign at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is the biggest challenge.

Dan Quinn is implementing a 'tell the truth Monday' during his second head coaching opportunity. The conversations with his players are honest after studying the film. They're highlighting the positives and what needs to improve. Hopefully, this has the desired effect and this once-proud franchise can begin to make positive strides next season.

Preparations are officially underway for Washington's second preseason road trip and joint practice later this week. The Commanders face another stern test of their credentials against the Miami Dolphins - something that will form an important part of the team's roster assessments with final cuts on the immediate horizon.

With that being said, here are five critical observations from Day 12 of Washington's training camp in Ashburn.

Critical observations from Day 12 of Commanders 2024 training camp

A short, intense session

It was a shorter-than-expected session for the Washington Commanders to begin another week. However, the intensity and work ethic were notable according to those in attendance.

Everyone put in maximum effort and is developing a collective mindset capable of getting the Commanders back on track. Bringing in so many established veterans is helping set a different tone within the building. Expectations have been raised and standards increased. That's the message everyone is clear about above all else.

Approaching every practice with the same winning mentality is only going to help. Most on the roster just went through the motions as Ron Rivera's fourth and final campaign at the helm underdelivered. This attitude will not be tolerated under the new regime.

It's something players have responded positively to so far. Dan Quinn and his staff will be hoping it continues long into the future.
