Montez Sweat - Commanders DE

In his four years as an NFL professional, Montez Sweat has racked up a total of 29 sacks in 59 games. These numbers landed him as the Washington Commanders season sack leader once in 2020, along with runner-up the other three campaigns.

The consistent defensive end has only missed seven games in his career. Sweat most recently picked up an 86.4 grade from Pro Football Focus as a result of his outstanding efforts during the previous season.

With most of the attention on the expiring contract of Chase Young, it seems like most are forgetting the much more productive and better statistical player is also due for a new deal. With both edge rushers primed for potentially big seasons, there is an urgency amongst them to outperform one another in hopes of landing a big deal from the Commanders next spring.

While this situation is complicated for the Commanders, it is yet another opportunity for Sweat to put up star numbers and yet again, outperform Young. And of course, being available is going to play a leading role in the decision-making process.

I'm expecting a big year from the former Mississippi State standout - whether it be from Washington or another team, a lucrative contract is looming come the 2024 off-season.
