5 bold Washington Commanders predictions at the Bengals in Week 3
By Dean Jones
After picking up the first victory of Dan Quinn's head coaching tenure and ending their nine-game losing run dating back to last season, things are looking up for the Washington Commanders. However, the challenges are just beginning for this new-look group.
Quinn is about to navigate a stretch of games that could be the toughest of the campaign when it's all said and done. This all starts with a tricky-looking road contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, who come into the game at 0-2 after losing to the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs.
This doesn't detract from what a stern test awaits Washington on Monday Night Football. The Bengals always seem to start slowly under head coach Zac Taylor. They have difference-makers all over the field and are also getting wide receiver Tee Higgins back in some capacity, which will help franchise quarterback Joe Burrow enormously.
Washington's early measuring stick has arrived, and the national spotlight is shining light on this exciting new regime for good measure. With that being said, here are five bold predictions for the Commanders in Week 3 at Paycor Stadium.
Bold predictions for the Commanders in Week 3 at the Bengals
Austin Seibert maintains his 100 percent field-goal record
It was a debut for the ages. Austin Seibert didn't have much time to adjust after being picked up by the Washington Commanders after Week 1. He deserves enormous credit for slotting in seamlessly and playing a significant role in the team's Week 2 triumph.
Seibert hit a franchise-record seven field goals throughout the clash - including a walk-off winner - against the New York Giants. The life of a kicker is precarious, but all signs point to the player finally having the credentials needed to solve what was quickly becoming an ongoing frustration.
The former Oklahoma standout has set a high bar for himself. Seibert will find life much tougher at the Cincinnati Bengals. There is also the added pressure of the Monday Night Football stage to factor into the equation.
Hopefully, the Commanders can turn their red-zone opportunities into more touchdowns. But if Seibert can also maintain his perfect start to life in Washington, that will help considerably.
