5 bold predictions for Commanders QB Jayden Daniels in Week 4 at Cardinals
By Dean Jones
Jayden Daniels gets Luke McCaffrey over 100 yards
Luke McCaffrey was getting open over the first two weeks of the season. The targets weren't there, but the rookie wide receiver and quarterback Jayden Daniels demonstrated notable chemistry improvements in Week 3 at the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.
Daniels and McCaffrey spent the offseason working closely together, immersing themselves in the playbook and developing some encouraging cohesion. This will only grow with more experience. Trusting the wideout on a crucial fourth down play at the Bengals was proof positive that this relationship is heading on the right path to prosperity.
It would be a surprise if the same trend didn't continue this weekend. The Arizona Cardinals are giving up 200 yards per game through the air over the opening three weeks. Daniels can take advantage of this by picking his spots and not biting on the bait being offered by veteran safety Budda Baker.
Daniels enjoyed his breakout performance in Week 3. McCaffrey's might not be too far behind if the numbers and targets increase this weekend at State Farm Stadium.
Jayden Daniels maintains season completion percentage
Jayden Daniels is not carrying himself like your average rookie. The 55 games he played in college are having the desired effect in the pros. His poise, composure under pressure and ability to get the football out on time to his playmakers are just some of the incredibly encouraging traits associated with his production so far.
The Commanders cannot be anything other than thrilled with the way Daniels is progressing week-to-week. His accuracy is astonishing for someone still making their way in the league. How much longer this continues remains to be seen, but he's set himself some lofty bars with his career still in its infancy.
Arizona's defense is coming along nicely. They've played well against two high-octane offenses in the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions over the last fortnight. They also boast some dynamic young players capable of making things difficult. That's without accounting for two-time All-Pro safety Budda Baker on the backend.
This is a different challenge for Daniels. Kliff Kingsbury's previous knowledge of some personnel from his time as Cardinals head coach should assist greatly. If the signal-caller can get anywhere close to the 80.3 percent completion success he's attained through three contests, that's an exceptional foundation from which to build.
