4 underrated Commanders players who could make a massive impact in 2024

K.J. Henry - Commanders DE
The Washington Commanders needed to find pass-rushing options after trading Montez Sweat and Chase Young before the deadline. Dorance Armstrong, Clelin Ferrell, and Dante Fowler Jr. were acquired in free agency. This bolsters the weapons available and in two cases, brings previous familiarity within Dan Quinn's creative system.
Much will depend on what reinforcements arrive via the 2024 NFL Draft, but K.J. Henry should feel quietly confident regarding extended playing time in 2024. The former fifth-round pick out of Clemson flashed when stepping into the breach last season despite his lack of experience. He's not the finished product by any stretch, but the potential is there with another offseason to develop.
Henry's blend of size and explosiveness caught the eye last season. He has to impress a new set of eyes and coaches in pursuit of additional involvement, but he comes into the upcoming preparation period with confidence and momentum in equal measure.
Getting more pressure on opposing quarterbacks is a must. It wouldn't be a shock to see the Commanders get another dynamic weapon via the 2024 NFL Draft thanks to the rich assets at their disposal. At the same time, nobody is expecting Henry to regress entering Year 2 of his professional career.
Time will tell. But looking at the impression Henry left last season, the edge presence could make a bigger difference than some are expecting.
