Jeremy Chinn - Commanders S/LB

As previously stated, Adam Peters has been incredibly active begin his first period of recruitment as general manager. The Washington Commanders roster looks almost unrecognizable - something that will enhance further once more free agents are signed and draft picks are chosen. More importantly, these arrivals haven't jeopardized future financial flexibility for the franchise in pursuit of sustained growth.

One of the more intriguing free-agent signings was Jeremy Chinn. The versatile defender looked like a potential star after a phenomenal rookie campaign. Things haven't been nearly as productive for the Southern Illinois college product over the last three years, which stems from the Carolina Panthers moving him from the defensive second-level and switching to the safety position.

Chinn became an afterthought within Ejiro Evero's 3-4 base scheme last season. He was eager to start fresh somewhere else and chose the Commanders over other suitors. This is thanks in no small part to how the player sees his skills thriving within Dan Quinn's defensive scheme.

Washington's coaching staff cannot overcomplicate things with Chinn. The former second-round pick excels when he's allowed to be instinctive closer to the line of scrimmage. Looking at how Quinn's deployed his defenses previously, this is exactly the sort of athlete who can make a substantial difference.

Hopefully, the Commanders capitalize on an extra-motivated Chinn in 2024. Couple this with the additions of Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner, the second level won't be the pushover it once was.
