Which underrated Washington Commanders players could end up making significant contributions under new head coach Dan Quinn in 2024?

Expectations are rising regarding the Washington Commanders and their quest for improved fortunes in 2024. Nobody is expecting a Super Bowl run or perhaps even reaching the playoffs in Year 1 under the new regime. But anything less than obvious growth on and off the field will be seen as a failure.

Adam Peters has left an outstanding impression during his first offseason as general manager up to now. There are still needs to fill and a couple of critical spots to solidify, but the front-office leader is moving with purpose and has the resources available to achieve his remaining objectives.

It'll be interesting to see how things unfold in the weeks and months ahead. For this to go smoothly, it must be a collective effort from Peters down to those on the practice squad. Unison like this is something the Commanders haven't benefitted from in some time.

With this in mind, here are four underrated Commanders players who could make a massive impact in 2024.

Nick Allegretti - Commanders OL

The Washington Commanders moved swiftly to find upgrades on their interior offensive line this offseason. Tyler Biadasz looks like an improvement on Nick Gates at the center position. The signing of Nick Allegretti also comes with a significant amount of intrigue attached.

Allegretti was seen as a depth piece for the Kansas City Chiefs before being thrust into the playoff limelight once Joe Thuney went down through injury. To say the lineman relished the chance to showcase his attributes would be an understatement, providing accomplished pass protection and carving out running lanes effectively for good measure.

This was enough for the Commanders to pull the trigger in free agency. Allegretti has his sights set on the starting left guard position. If he gets the gig, don't be surprised if he builds on his newfound momentum.
