Commanders could trade Chase Young to the Chiefs

This would almost seem unfair if Chase Young's injury problems became a thing of the past. Landing on the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs would also be a best-case scenario from the player's perspective if the Washington Commanders did decide to cut their losses at any stage.

The Chiefs hoisted the Vince Lombardi trophy once again in 2022 despite many writing off their hopes after trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. Proof, if any were needed, that elite quarterback play and a progressive offensive head coach remain the blueprint until further notice.

Kansas City has been up against it from a salary-cap standpoint and has less than $1 million available to spend currently. That would make taking on Young's cap hit unrealistic, but contending teams always find a way to manipulate finances to their benefit if the right opportunities come along.

Whether the Chiefs would be willing to part ways with substantial draft capital for Young is debatable. It might also be a short-term arrangement depending on the money his representatives demand when it's time to begin contract negotiations.

After cutting Frank Clark in free agency, adding another experienced pass-rusher would be wise. Although those within the building remain hopeful that former first-round selection George Karlaftis can thrive with additional responsibilities next season.

It's a long shot. But nothing can be ruled out where the Chiefs are concerned.
