Which teams could potentially steal Eric Bieniemy from the Washington Commanders during the NFL's next head coaching cycle in 2024?
When Eric Bieniemy left the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs for the Washington Commanders this offseason, there was a clear objective in mind. The respected figure was eager to emerge from Andy Reid's shadow, gain more responsibilities, and hopefully do enough to convince another team he's worthy of a head coaching gig.
Bieniemy has been overlooked countless times despite boasting some impressive credentials. Many have speculated as to why this is the case, but Ron Rivera is giving him some fantastic experience in keeping with those occupying top jobs to give his chances a significant boost if everything goes well in 2023.
Of course, nobody could say with any certainty. There are always up-and-coming coaches emerging every year, and owners will be skeptical about why Bieniemy remains in a coordinator position after numerous interviews.
If Bieniemy leaves no doubt and takes Washington forward when competitive games arrive, these four teams could end up pinching him from the Commanders during the next head coaching cycle.
Commanders could lose Eric Bieniemy to the Saints
Things haven't gone according to plan for the New Orleans Saints since Sean Payton walked away. Going with a defensive-minded figure in Dennis Allen seems to have regressed the organization, which leaves his long-term fortunes hanging in the balance next season.
The Saints swung for the fences by giving quarterback Derek Carr a mammoth contract in free agency despite a down year with the Las Vegas Raiders. Prolific wide receiver Michael Thomas is also returning from another lengthy spell on the sidelines, which could help New Orleans attain success in what appears to be a wide-open NFC South.
If Allen cannot galvanize his troops, then he might pay with his job. In this scenario, the Saints might go back to an offensive way of thinking and approach the Washington Commanders about Eric Bieniemy.
