4 silent assassins on the Washington Commanders in 2023

Darrick Forrest - Commanders S
Darrick Forrest might not be a household name to those that don't follow the Washington Commanders closely. But that might not be the case for much longer looking at the player's current career trajectory.
The defensive back is another Day 3 selection currently thriving in Washington. His hard-hitting from the safety position came in for significant praise last season, but it was Forrest's prowess in coverage that became more impressive.
Forrest was assured in the passing game, reacting well either in man or as a security blanket within zone concepts. He also managed to turn opportunities into takeaways, registering a team-high four interceptions and an impressive 88 tackles as a result of his efforts.
The former Cincinnati star's partnership with Kamren Curl is already among the league's brightest at the safety spot. If the duo makes additional improvements - which is entirely possible given their age - then it could be enough for Washongton's formidable defense to finally reach the No. 1 spot league-wide.
Curl is generating the majority of headlines this offseason thanks in no small part to his contract situation. However, one cannot overstate how important Forrest is to the team's plans next season and potentially way into the future.
And make no mistake, another outstanding campaign will have his own representatives banging down Josh Harris' door for a new contract along the way.
