4 shocking Commanders cut candidates emerging from 2024 training camp

The Washington Commanders are putting players through their paces in pursuit of enhancing their roster evaluations before final cuts. It's been wonderful to see a vibrant atmosphere at training camp on and off the practice field. Fans believe something special is building under the new regime, which raises stakes for coaches and players alike heading into the 2024 campaign.
Dan Quinn and his coaching staff have made a decent impression so far. He's brought the energy and improved standards immediately. Anyone not pulling their weight or having trouble fitting into the team's strategies faces an uphill battle to stick around.
There is a notable surge in urgency across every position group. This is an exciting project to be part of, so making a good first impression is crucial. Some accomplished that better than others. Some have a lot of hard work ahead to convince Quinn and Adam Peters they are worthy of spots on the 53-man roster.

Ricky Stromberg - Commanders OL
The Washington Commanders weren't going to leave anything to chance this offseason. They needed to make drastic changes to the playing personnel after a four-win campaign that brought more mundane football despite a promising start. The early intent to fortify the trenches - especially on offense - was clear.
Washington signed Tyler Biadasz, Nick Allegretti, and Michael Deiter to bolster the starting positions and improve depth. This was almost guaranteed after how things went for the protection in 2023. It also does nothing to enhance the aspirations of Ricky Stromberg entering Year 2 of his professional career.
Stromberg suffered some injury problems as a rookie and couldn't generate any momentum. The former third-round selection out of Oklahoma is being tried as an offensive guard after starting his career at the center spot. There's not been much to shout about throughout camp so far. One can also make a case for players like Chris Paul outperforming the second-year pro based on the musings of those in attendance.
Giving up on the No. 97 overall pick after just one season would be surprising. At the same time, this staff has no sentimental attachment whatsoever. Stromberg must leave no doubt by shining during the preseason.
