Rachad Wildgoose - Commanders CB

The Washington Commanders are looking for big things from their secondary next season. Those in power addressed this need with urgency during the 2023 NFL Draft with the additions of Emmanuel Forbes and Quan Martin, who've already brought a level of energy that was sorely missing within the unit last time around.

One would expect Benjamin St-Juste and Kendall Fuller to generate prominent reps thanks to their production and experience. Forbes looks like an absolute superstar based on his initial transition and Martin's ability to be around the football consistently makes it likely he'll see involvement right out of the gate.

This paints a bleak picture for Rachad Wildgoose, who probably headed into the offseason as the team's best nickel cornerback. While he did perform well when called upon last season, those in power clearly thought better options were available from the college ranks and it's plunged him down the depth chart as a result.

Much will depend on how many cornerbacks Washington takes through onto their roster. But if Jack Del Rio is going to use Martin as his strong nickel/slot option, then Wildgoose has an enormous task on his hands to make the team.

The former sixth-round pick out of Wisconsin has enough talent to factor into the equation. How Wildgoose performs in the preseason compared to others will be telling.
