Commanders QB decision

No decision has to be made on Sam Howell yet. However, there is a chance that the Washington Commanders could be in a position to select an exciting quarterback prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The order of those prospects will fluctuate a lot between now and next April. Caleb Williams, should he enter the draft, will probably stay at No. 1 despite some recent struggles. After him, there are plenty of options.

Howell has developed very well this year and is the clear quarterback of the future at this point. The only question is whether the franchise is sure enough about him to bypass a good signal-caller atop next year's college selection process.

This is shaping up to be one of those years when five or six quarterbacks go in the first 32 picks. If you’re the Commanders - drafting somewhere in the middle of the first round - and someone like LSU's Jayden Daniels is on the board, are you sure enough about Howell to pass him by?

The four picks on Day 2 ease this decision a bit because you know you are coming out with a lot of good players regardless. That’s one more reason why good teams hoard draft picks.

However, it all comes down to your assessment of Howell the rest of this season.
